Know When To Hold ‘Em, Know When To Fold ‘Em- Commonwealth v. W.T.

W. T. was arrested for robbery, aggravated assault, conspiracy, possession of an instrument of crime and various other charges. All in all, her total potential period of incarceration was close to one hundred years. The commonwealth originally offered a heavy state sentence partly due to the fact that W.T. had several contacts with the criminal justice system, including a homicide from out of state. Mr. Shaffer demanded that the case go to a jury trial. Notwithstanding the victim being present, Mr. Shaffer was able to point out the glaring weaknesses in the commonwealth’s case and was able to negotiate terms that kept W.T. out of jail!
